JBL HDI Series

Harman, a US Company owned by Samsung, currently owns a whole range of prominent AV brands which includes JBL, Revel, Arcam, Mark Levinson and many more.

Several brand new speaker models from JBL and Revel were spotted on the Harman stand at the CEDIA Expo. The picture above shows one of the latest additions to the Revel Performa range. The second speaker from the left is the new Revel F226Be which is a 3-way floorstander with two 65” mid/bass drivers and a Beryllium tweeter. A pair of the above speakers costs approximately £7000. The F328Be 3-way floorstander with 3 8” drivers is the tallest speaker. A pair of these speakers sell for approximately £15,000. To the right of the picture sits the massive Revel C426Be centre speaker with 6.5” drivers plus a Beryllium tweeter. The speaker costs around £3,500 and, due to its larger size, is clearly designed for bigger homes or spaces that can accommodate this type of speaker.

The new JBL HDi series are friendly speakers that will be on sale from January 2020. They will feature the company’s familiar horn tweeters and the range will include a centre speaker, two floorstanders and a stand mount speaker. The HDi-3800 floorstander speaker will cost in the region of £5000 and the HDi-3600 floorstander will go for £3500. The JBL HDi-1600 standmount model comes in at £1600 and the centre speaker’s price is yet to be confirmed. The speakers are available in 3 different finishes; a traditional brown wood veneer, gloss black and grey ash.
