Audio-Technica was established in 1962 by Hideo Matsushita in Tokyo’s Shinjuku-ku. When the company first launched it began to supply phono cartridges to audio equipment manufacturers in Japan. It was only 11 years later in 1973 that the company began shipments of VM phono cartridges to European audio equipment manufacturers. Now they are a worldwide group of companies devoted to the design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of problem-solving audio equipment.
