Known initially as Data Conversion Systems, dCS initially manufactured digital convertors for the military in the 1980s and is an exceptional company with a long history of innovation and a succession of market-defining products.
In 1988, the company was approached by the BBC for professional audio equipment which culminated in a hugely successful relationship. The equipment supplied by dCS was used in recording studios around the world along with almost all BBC studios, and from there, dCS took their telecommunications knowledge and used it to significant effect in the audio electronics industry providing ADCs and DACs to studios. When customers started to use their digital encoders and decoders at home, they finally entered the home audio market.
The dCS products we know now are high end, featuring world-class craftsmanship and leading-edge technology. Over the past 25 years there has been much refinement, improvement and innovation leading dCS to demonstrate to music lovers all around the world that it’s entirely possible to produce music which is as close to the original recording as possible, by separating the key functions of the digital playback chain. This has earned dCS a massive and loyal following worldwide, so it’s unsurprising that so many music lovers wish to invest in the most reliable and state-of-the-art systems available on the market today. Known for its legendary dCS Ring DAC, dCS is committed to ensuring that its products are exceptional. Design and manufacture still takes place by hand in the UK at its premises in Cambridge and the brand strives to offer state-of-the-art precision and reliability with every product produced.
Today their product range includes streaming DACS such as the Bartok DAC, the Network Bridge media streamer and the Rossini range of digital sources for outstanding digital performance playback.
