Devialet

Devialet is a French audio technology company that produces a line of speakers (Phantom) and amplifiers (Expert). The company was founded in 2007 in Paris and is the most critically acclaimed start-up in the world for innovation and excellence in audio inventions.

Devialet’s story began with the invention, by co-founder and engineer, Pierre-Emmanuel Calmel, of ADH, (Analog Digital Hybrid) technology. ADH was a revolutionary patented invention that would change high-end amplifiers. The hybrid technology seamlessly blends digital and analog to produce sound quality, unlike anything previously experienced and is now in every Devialet product.

Calmel offered the new technology to his then-employer Nortel but, when they declined, he quit his job to focus on making a working prototype. Three years later, he had developed an amplifier prototype using the technology.

Between 2010 and 2014, Devialet made great strides. The company introduced its first product, an amplifier called “D-Premier.” Then in June 2013, it unveiled an updated version of its D-Premier amp (known as the Devialet 240) and two new lower-end versions, the Devialet 110 and Devialet 170. Late 2014, saw the release of its first speaker, the Devialet Phantom. The upgraded “Gold Phantom” speaker was released In June 2016, a speaker with 4,500 watts of power (peak) that was capable of producing sound volumes of up to 108 decibels.

Later that year, the company announced an “Immersive Theatre System” and Devialet continued updating their line of amplifiers (now known as “Expert”), creating the Expert PRO amplifier.
