A few things we get asked most often. If your question isn't here, our team is happy to talk it through.

Skanderborg, Denmark. Every Dynaudio driver — tweeter, mid/bass, voice-coil, magnet — is designed and assembled in their own factory, which is unusual; most speaker brands buy in OEM drivers from Scan-Speak, SEAS or Peerless. The cabinets, crossovers and final assembly are also Danish. Nothing on the speaker is sub-contracted out.

Most Dynaudio cabinets are 4-ohm nominal and like an amplifier that can deliver current at low impedances. As a rule of thumb: the entry-level passive ranges are happy with 50–150 W per channel; the Contour and Confidence ranges are power very hungry. We tend to pair them with Hegel, McIntosh or Naim — all of them would typically be a very good match.

Yes — most of the ranges can all be heard in our showroom at 12 Abingdon Road. If you are after any specific Dynaudio model can be set up within a few days of asking. Sessions are free, last about an hour or two, and there is no pressure to buy at the end.

Dynaudio speakers are generally described as neutral and uncoloured rather than warm or bright, with a characteristic weight through the lower midrange and an unforced treble. The soft-dome tweeter means they very rarely sound hard or fatiguing, even on compressed or poorly mastered recordings — which is why they suit people who listen for long sessions across a wide range of material

Dynaudio has manufactured its own drive units since the company was founded, and it is one of very few loudspeaker makers to do so at every level of its range. Buying in off-the-shelf drivers means designing a speaker around a component someone else specified; making them in-house means the cone, the voice coil, the magnet system and the cabinet are developed as one.
