Luxsin is a Chinese high-end audio brand belonging to the Zidoo Group, the same group behind Eversolo. The brand draws on Zidoo’s existing R&D experience in digital audio and software, while the current Luxsin hardware is manufactured in China.

Luxsin focuses on desktop DAC and headphone amplifier systems that combine conventional audiophile hardware with unusually advanced software processing. Its products bring together high-resolution DACs, powerful headphone outputs, touchscreen control, EQ, crossfeed, automatic impedance detection and personalised listening features in a single unit.

The X8 uses eight Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips in a dual-mono arrangement and offers higher maximum headphone output power, while the X9 uses an AK4191EQ and AK4499EX DAC architecture with a femtosecond clock and R2R volume control. The X9 also adds analogue RCA input, HDMI ARC and dual subwoofer outputs, making it the more flexible choice as the centre of a desktop or compact hi-fi system.

Luxsin can apply EQ profiles based on a large database of headphone measurements, allowing the response of compatible headphones to be adjusted towards a selected target or personal preference. The database covers thousands of models, although Luxsin notes that measurement differences and normal manufacturing tolerances mean the profiles should be treated as useful reference settings rather than exact correction for every individual headphone.

The X8 adds an AI-assisted approach to parametric EQ, allowing the listener to describe the change they want using text or voice rather than manually adjusting every EQ band. The system translates those instructions into EQ settings, while conventional manual control remains available for listeners who prefer to tune the response themselves.

The X8 and X9 can detect the impedance of connected headphones and use that information to recommend or select an appropriate gain setting. Luxsin also offers hearing-compensation functions that create separate correction curves for the listener’s left and right ears, adding another layer of personalisation beyond headphone-specific EQ.

Both models combine DAC and headphone amplification with RCA and balanced XLR line outputs, so they can also feed active speakers or a separate power amplifier. The X9 goes further with analogue input, HDMI ARC and subwoofer outputs, making it particularly suitable for a compact system where one component handles headphones, digital sources and volume control.

Premium Sound carries both the X8 and X9 and has a dedicated headphone area at its Kensington store. A demo is particularly useful with Luxsin because features such as headphone EQ, crossfeed, gain matching and the touchscreen interface are much easier to judge with your own headphones than from specifications alone. It is worth confirming which model is available for demonstration before visiting.

The debut product, the Luxsin X9, sets the tone for the company’s ambitions. It is a powerful headphone amplifier with a built-in DAC and preamp, crafted with audiophile-grade components such as precision resistors, WIMA capacitors, and TI op-amps. Housed in CNC-machined aluminum with a 4” touchscreen and VU meters, the X9 supports PCM up to 32‑bit/768 kHz and DSD512, while offering smart features like auto-impedance detection, R2R volume control, and a crossfeed circuit for a more speaker-like experience. Its versatile connectivity includes balanced XLR, 4.4 mm Pentaconn, and HDMI ARC, catering to both headphone and desktop speaker users.

Luxsin is positioned as a premium yet accessible brand for audiophiles, with its first product priced under €1,500. Distributed in Europe by audioNEXT GmbH, the Luxsin X9 will debut at the World of Headphones event in Heidelberg in early 2025. With its combination of sophisticated design, engineering precision, and high-performance audio, Luxsin is poised to become a standout name in the desktop hi-fi landscape.
