Mytek was founded by Michal Jurewicz, inventor and engineer, in 1992 in New York City at New York’s Skyline Studios. This was the residence of well-known producer Nile Rogers. Michal’s mission was to provide the best sounding digital audio conversion for new digital tape machines making its way to replace analog production workflow.
In the beginning, Mytek was acclaimed mostly in the pro audio world for its very high-quality AD converters and master clocks. Mytek sound is heard on numerous hit albums from Skyline and stars such as Stevie Wonder, James Taylor and David Bowie. Mytek was commissioned by Sony Super Audio DSD project in 2002 and has collaborated with MQA Ltd since 2015.
Since 2011 Mytek studio technology is available to audiophiles. Mytek HiFi is a separate division making the highest grade, transparent DACs, Streamers and AMPs and has made a big impression.
The company has gained an excellent reputation amongst Hi-Fi and high-end audio enthusiasts with their decent quality DAC solutions. These include the Mytek Digital Stereo 192 DSD DAC as their former “budget” reference and the Manhattan DAC as their top-of-the-line digital-to-analog-converters. The Mytek Brooklyn is a step-up from the Mytek Stereo 192 DSD DAC, but it shares more similarities with their flagship product, the Manhattan DAC. This product has fantastic craftsmanship, sound quality and versatile implementation.
Mytek’s latest DACs include support for the latest emerging technologies and standards like Master Quality Authenticated audio.
The Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ builds on the many successes of the original Brooklyn DAC. It has all of the same great features, but with redesigned and enhanced conversion, analogue and power supply circuits. The net result is an even lower noise floor to resolve even the most delicate details and an overall improvement in sound quality. It can be used as a line level DAC, a preamplifier, a MM/MC phono stage, a headphone amplifier or all of these. It is supports PCM up 32 bit / 384kHz, DSD up to DSD256 and full unfolding of Master Quality Authentication (MQA) audio.
