Rega applies a reference designation to the products that sit at the top of the range. These are the components built without the usual cost constraints that have defined the brand for five decades, and they are treated differently at the point of sale. The Naia, Mercury and Solis are not supplied by mail order at the manufacturer’s request. Rega’s position is that a reference pre and power combination at this level should be heard in a considered system before purchase, not shipped unheard. We fully support the manufacturer’s commitment to assisting dealers who have the reference electronics available for demonstration and we warmly welcome customers who wish to visit and experience these components for themselves.
The three reference pieces on demonstration
Rega Naia
The Naia is Rega’s flagship turntable and the closest production expression of the hand-made Naiad research deck. Its plinth uses a graphene-impregnated carbon fibre skeleton with a Tancast 8 foam core, both materials drawn from aerospace use, strengthened by two ceramic aluminium oxide braces in Rega’s Double Brace arrangement. The central bearing is made from ZTA (zirconium toughened alumina) ceramic, and the deck is fitted with the one-piece RB Titanium tonearm. A separate reference power supply uses a DSP generator for speed stability, and drive comes from an EBLT triple belt. The Aphelion 2 moving coil cartridge is available as a factory-fitted option.

Rega Mercury
The Mercury is Rega’s reference pre-amplifier, and by component count it is the most complex electronic product the company has built. The core signal path is fully discrete and symmetrical, and the unit adds a built-in DAC based on a pair of Wolfson WM8742 converters, with coaxial, optical and asynchronous USB inputs. There is a discrete headphone amplifier that Rega describes as a mini-Solis, five line-level inputs including a balanced XLR, a tape loop, and a full-colour IPS display. The Mercury does not include a phono stage, so vinyl users pair it with the Rega Aura MC phono stage and a deck such as the Planar 10 or Naia.

Rega Solis
The Solis is the matching reference power amplifier, rated at 168 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 305 watts into 4 ohms. It uses fully symmetrical discrete circuitry and a triple high-current output stage built around twelve Sanken output transistors, six per channel. Power comes from two custom 330VA toroidal transformers feeding 40,000µF of smoothing capacitance per channel, which is why the output effectively doubles as impedance halves.
