Compare The Range
Fyne Audio’s Special Production (SP) series, side by side. Here is the F500SP standmount alongside the larger F501SP and F502SP floorstanders, showing what your money buys when Fyne takes the high-end driver and crossover technology from their flagship F700 series and engineers it into the more compact F500 cabinet architecture.

The long read.
The F500SP (Special Production) represents a significant shift from the standard F500 series. Built by hand in Fyne Audio’s UK factory, it takes the cabinet footprint of the standard F500 but guts the internal acoustic engineering, replacing it with the premium components developed for the much more expensive F700 series. By upgrading the IsoFlare driver, the crossover, and replacing the wooden base with a heavy, machined aluminium plinth, Fyne has created a high-end, highly revealing monitor disguised in a standard cabinet.
Brief product overview
A premium, UK-built two-way standmount loudspeaker utilizing a 150mm (6-inch) multi-fibre IsoFlare driver, derived directly from the F700 series. It features a rigid cast aluminium chassis and a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter with a neodymium magnet system. The downward-firing port vents through a heavy-duty, dual-layer machined aluminium plinth featuring the BassTrax Tractrix diffuser, pushing response down to 42Hz. The crossover uses premium Mundorf components and silver-plated Van den Hul wiring. The rear panel features bi-wire terminals plus a fifth grounding terminal to earth the driver chassis and eliminate radio frequency interference. Sensitivity is 90dB with an 8-ohm nominal impedance. It measures 323 x 200 x 320mm and weighs 8.1kg per speaker.
How it sounds
The F500SP is drastically more resolving, transparent, and tightly controlled than the standard F500. The upgraded F700-series IsoFlare driver delivers an incredibly fast, articulate presentation with pinpoint stereo imaging. Because the driver chassis is heavily upgraded and mounted to a much stiffer aluminium plinth, the bass response is substantially tighter and faster, devoid of cabinet overhang. The high frequencies are extended and crystalline, pulling micro-details from recordings with studio-like precision. It is a highly analytical, rhythmically agile speaker that grabs your attention and demands high-quality source material.
What we’d partner it with
Because the SP series is so revealing and fast, it requires amplification that offers absolute control without tipping into clinical brightness. The Arcam A25+ integrated amplifier is a superb pairing. It utilizes Class G amplification, which operates in pure Class A for the critical first few watts before switching to a powerful Class AB rail for dynamic peaks. Delivering a robust 100 watts per channel, the Arcam provides a dark, dead-quiet background and a slight natural warmth that balances the F500SP’s hyper-detailed presentation perfectly.
For analogue playback, the Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 turntable provides a high-quality, precision-engineered mechanical foundation. Featuring a carbon tonearm, a heavy damped platter, and a premium factory-fitted cartridge, it connects directly into the Arcam A25+’s built-in moving-magnet phono stage, ensuring the fast, rhythmic Fyne speakers are fed a highly accurate analog signal.
Who shouldn’t buy it
If you are on a strict budget, the standard F500 offers much of the point-source magic for significantly less money. If you are pairing these with entry-level or inherently bright amplification, the SP’s highly revealing magnesium tweeter will mercilessly expose those flaws and become fatiguing. Furthermore, if you prefer a warm, forgiving, or laid-back “polite” sound that smooths over poor recordings, this is the wrong speaker; the F500SP is a precision instrument built for absolute clarity.
One loudspeaker, two complete systems. Here’s how we’d build around it.
The Streaming System
A UK-built point-source paired with a Class G integrated, offering pristine control and high-resolution streming.
The Analogue Extension
The same Class G amplifier paired with a premium belt-drive turntable for an exceptionally engaging, low-noise vinyl path.
Useful Notes
To realize the full potential of the F500SP, they must be placed on rigid, mass-loaded speaker stands; placing a Special Production speaker on a hollow cabinet or flimsy shelf will ruin the tight bass response engineered into the aluminium plinth. The BassTrax diffuser makes them relatively forgiving of rear wall proximity, but allow at least 20cm of space. Fyne includes a unique fifth binding post on the rear panel—running a ground wire from this terminal to the chassis ground of your Arcam A25+ shields the voice coil from radio frequency interference, dropping the noise floor even further. The Arcam A25+ operates efficiently but will still generate some heat when pushing into its Class AB power band, so ensure it has adequate ventilation. For the turntable, connect the Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 into the Arcam’s dedicated MM phono input and securely fasten the ground spade to eliminate hum.
