These are the world’s first speakers with the Uni-Q 12^th Generation with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). A revolutionary and highly complex maze-like structure developed using advanced simulation and analysis tools by KEF’s engineers. It absorbs 99% of unwanted sounds from the rear of the driver.

This results in the total elimination of distortion, giving the listener a more natural, accurate and pure sound. This life-like sound is dispersed evenly throughout the room, allowing a totally immersive experience and the opportunity to savour and lose yourself in the music. Indeed, the LS50 Meta delivers exceptional acoustic accuracy.

Improved clarity with exceptional depth and detail is achieved using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to delay the onset of turbulence. The port flare and profile of the LS50 Meta’s patented off-set port is calculated precisely, and the flexible port walls prevent resonance at midrange.

This meticulous attention to detail is also prevalent within the loudspeaker cabinet. An injection-moulded Dough Moulding Compound (DMC) has been used to precision-model the LS50 Meta’s low-diffraction curved baffle, with cross bracing and Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) to deaden any internal vibrations ensuring the lowest colouration of any speaker in its class. The curved surface allows sound to radiate without interference giving a beautifully clean, precise sound.

Design

At 30cm tall, the LS50 Meta is designed with a substantial reinforced cabinet, but with performance and acoustic benefits in mind. Form follows function with the rear panel mirroring the curved front baffle and the port exit and speaker terminals recessed to preserve the elegance and aesthetics of this high-performance loudspeaker. Every inch of the LS50 Meta is designed with performance at the fore.

So, pleasing to look at, the LS50 Meta can perhaps be compared to a sculpture. With four perfect finishes – Carbon Black, Mineral White, Titanium Grey and a special edition Royal Blue, even the colours will liven up your interior décor, along with the precision sound.
