The McIntosh WS500 In-Wall Loudspeaker is a highly adaptable model designed for professional installations in both 2-channel residential audio systems and home theatre environments as front, centre, or surround channels. It pairs ideally with the McIntosh MI128 or McIntosh MI254 amplifiers, as well as the McIntosh WS300 and McIntosh CS200, to which it is acoustically matched for a unified and consistent listening experience. In cinema applications, it integrates seamlessly with McIntosh A/V processors and multi-channel amplification systems.

Its versatility makes it suitable for both discreet stereo setups and immersive surround configurations. The tonal matching ensures cohesive sound character throughout the installation.

Advanced 3-Way Acoustic Engineering

The three-way WS500 features a fully sealed enclosure engineered to provide outstanding output across diverse installation conditions, while an optimised internal air chamber reduces distortion and frequency inconsistencies. It incorporates dual 6.5-inch low-frequency drivers, two 2-inch inverted titanium dome midrange units, and a single 3/4-inch titanium dome high-frequency driver.

The woofer employs a newly developed shallow-profile design that fits within standard 2×4 wall structures for simplified fitting. It utilises a long-excursion, high-power configuration with carbon-reinforced moulded cones and elastomeric surrounds to ensure superior linear movement and durability.

The midrange and tweeter drivers are identical to those found in the McIntosh XR50 and McIntosh XR100 home audio speakers, delivering comparable sonic refinement and clarity. This shared driver technology guarantees consistency with McIntosh’s broader loudspeaker lineup. Performance remains articulate and controlled even at higher listening levels.

Discreet Design & Installation Convenience

The grille attaches magnetically for straightforward removal and maintenance. It is also paintable and designed to minimise the visible edge of the mounting frame, allowing the speaker to blend almost invisibly into surrounding décor.

All necessary installation hardware and mounting components are included for post-construction applications. An optional rough-in kit (#RK500) is available when required for pre-construction preparation.
