A versatile Moving Magnet cartridge combining low-resonance materials with straightforward system matching and easy long-term ownership.
The Clearaudio N2 MM brings contemporary materials and practical engineering to a traditional Moving Magnet design. Based around the proven generator architecture developed for the N1, it introduces a completely different cartridge body made from carbon-fibre-reinforced PETG.
With an output of approximately 3.3mV, the N2 is designed to work naturally with conventional MM phono stages, making it an accessible upgrade for a wide range of turntables without requiring specialist low-output amplification.

A Lightweight, Low-Resonance Body

Carbon-fibre reinforcement provides greater rigidity while helping control unwanted mechanical vibration.
The N2’s PETG-CF housing combines a precision-formed polymer structure with integrated carbon fibres. The resulting body is both lightweight and structurally rigid, providing a stable foundation for the generator while reducing resonances that could colour the signal being retrieved from the groove.
At just 8.5g, the cartridge is also suitable for a broad range of tonearms. Integrated threaded inserts simplify installation and provide a secure connection to compatible headshells.

Accurate Groove Tracking

An elliptical diamond stylus and aluminium cantilever balance detail retrieval with reliable everyday playback.
The N2 uses an elliptical stylus profile mounted to an aluminium cantilever, allowing it to follow groove modulation with greater precision than a basic spherical design. This helps reveal fine musical information while maintaining stable tracking across a varied record collection.
Clearaudio specifies a 20Hz–20kHz frequency response, 80μm tracking ability and a recommended tracking force of 2.2g. These characteristics make the N2 easy to integrate into both new and existing vinyl systems without unusually demanding setup requirements.

Simple to Maintain and Upgrade

A replaceable stylus assembly extends cartridge life and makes routine ownership easier.
Rather than requiring replacement of the entire cartridge when the stylus eventually wears, the N2 uses a removable snap-fit stylus assembly. The stylus can be changed while the cartridge body remains installed, reducing both maintenance time and long-term ownership cost.
By combining a rigid carbon-fibre-reinforced body, broad tonearm compatibility and familiar MM electrical requirements, the Clearaudio N2 MM offers a practical step towards more refined analogue playback without introducing unnecessary complexity.
