Description
Reference-Derived MC Amplification
The Rega AOS is a dedicated, fully adjustable moving coil stage derived from the circuit architecture of the award-winning Rega Aura reference model. Designed without compromise, it enhances definition, realism, and dynamic accuracy, allowing vinyl playback to achieve greater clarity and presence.
Housed in a custom half-width aluminium enclosure, the AOS provides substantial gain for low-output MC cartridges and extensive load flexibility to match a broad range of designs.
Pure Analogue Signal Path
The AOS employs a two-stage, fully analogue amplifier topology with no digital control circuitry. Its aluminium casework shields the internal circuit from stray RFI interference, preserving signal integrity.
Unnecessary components have been intentionally excluded to maintain a direct and uncompromised signal path. A self-adjusting servo control compensates for ambient and operating temperature variations to ensure consistent performance.
Advanced FET Input Architecture
Parallel-connected, low-noise FETs configured as compound pairs form the heart of the MC input stage. This design eliminates bias current flow within the cartridge coil, preserving the delicate magnetic geometry and minimizing distortion.
The result is improved transparency, stable gain structure, and accurate signal amplification from even the most sensitive moving coil cartridges.
Extensive Loading and Gain Adjustability
The MC input allows resistive loading selection from 70Ω to 400Ω and capacitive loading from 1000pF to 4300pF, enabling precise cartridge matching. Input sensitivity can be increased by 6dB via the rear panel to accommodate lower output cartridges.
An automatic standby mode conserves energy by placing the unit into sleep after a period of no signal, with the option to deactivate this function using rear-panel dip switches.
Designed for Vinyl Precision
Engineered as a no-compromise analogue device, the AOS combines high gain capability, flexible adjustment, and thermal stability. Its carefully screened aluminium chassis and refined internal topology ensure low noise and high definition.
The result is a moving coil preamplifier optimized for extracting maximum detail, tonal balance, and realism from vinyl playback systems.
