Premium Sound has lived on a quiet side-street just off High Street Kensington since 2021. Two floors, room enough for a hand-picked selection of hi‑fi, and crucially, the time and space to actually hear it.
We deliberately keep our selection focused. Although we work with a number of brands, we carefully choose the models that perform best across most rooms. Curating a range takes a great deal of thought and experience, which is why many of our visitors end up shortlisting components they hadn’t even considered before walking in. However, at the same time, we aim to offer a selection that caters to a wide variety of tastes and preferences.
On any given day you'll find speakers from at various price-points, a dozen of turntables with phono stages, valve and solid-state amplification, streamers, DACs, headphones, cables, racks, and some unfashionable items such as isolation pucks, and mains conditioning. If we don’t currently stock a specific brand or product you’re interested in, no problem — we can likely source it through our network of UK distributors, as we work with most of them.
What we don't do is rush. A good demo takes time, the right music, and a properly warmed-up system. We'd rather have you in for two hours and leave with the right thing than sell you something in twenty minutes that doesn't suit. The kettle's always on.

The listening room.
The demo room is a separate space at the back of the showroom, closed off from the rest of the floor and designed around one thing — letting components do what they were built to do.
We’ve built this room from the ground up to give our customers the best possible audio experience in a comfortable, relaxed setting. At the same time, we’ve intentionally kept room treatment to a minimum. We understand that not everyone has the option of installing acoustic wall panels at home, and we don’t want your hi-fi system to sound completely different once you take it home. That’s why we’ve designed our listening room to reflect the kind of living space most people actually use.
We’re always happy to demonstrate any of the components available in-store and we can easily swap equipment in and out, giving you the freedom to try anything you see on the shelves.

A separate area, with everything you need to audition properly: matched DAC and amplifier stacks, your choice of source, and as long as you want with each pair.
We stock IEMs through to reference open-back cans, so you can step up the chain in a single sitting and hear exactly where each step up makes a difference to your ears. Bring your phone, a hi-res file on a USB stick, or your own DAP and we'll plug you in.
The lineup rotates regularly, so ask us in advance what you'd like to try on the day, or simply drop in and we'll walk you through the options on demo.

A few things we get asked most often. If your question isn't here, our team is happy to talk it through.
It’s not required but strongly recommended as the booking guarantees the demo room is held for you and lets us prepare your shortlist in advance. If you happen to be in the area, we’ll always do our best to accommodate a walk-in.
Most demos comfortably fit into an hour or two. If you’re auditioning a complete system or comparing several speakers, we’d suggest two to three hours, ideally on a weekday when the store is quieter.
A curated selection of speakers, amplifiers, streamers, turntables and headphones is set up and ready to listen to at all times. We keep some of the smaller items in stock (new) such as cartridges, IEMs, DACs on-site; larger pieces live in our warehouse and we can have them in the store normally within 72 hours.
Just tell us in advance. We can usually have it transferred in from our warehouse or suppliers ahead of your visit, set up properly in the demo room, and warmed up before you sit down.
Please do. Vinyl, CD, a hi-res file on a USB stick, a Tidal/Qobuz/Apple Music account — whatever you usually listen on. Knowing the music helps the components reveal themselves much faster than canned demo tracks.
Absolutely, and we encourage it. If you’re auditioning new speakers but keeping your existing amp, bringing it in gives the most accurate impression of what you’ll actually hear at home. We can also work the other way around with a home trial on most components.
Yes, we offer Click & Collect. Because most stock lives at our warehouse rather than the store, please allow 1-2 working days for items to be moved across. If you need something urgently, we can arrange a same-day Uber delivery.
