The MC303 is designed to drive the front three channels, so it is paired with a further multichannel amplifier for the surrounds and heights, and an AV processor to feed them all. In a flagship system it partners the MX180 processor, with a 7-channel amplifier such as the MC257 or MI347 handling the remaining channels, the reference approach to a large immersive layout. Who shouldn’t buy it

If you want a single amplifier to drive a whole 5.1 or 7.1 system, the MC255 or MC257 is the more practical choice. If your system is modest and does not justify reference power on the front three channels, one of those amplifiers covers everything in one box. The MC303 earns its place in a large, ambitious cinema where the front soundstage deserves the very best.
