Description

Power, Speed, and Sonic Balance

The mythological Chimera is symbolised by the lion, snake, and goat — it is the spirit and character of this mythological beast that is expressed in Chimera’s astounding sonic reproduction. Bone conduction and our True Glass dynamic drivers produce tactile, extended, and textured lows that remain fast and accurate due to the resonant properties of Chimera’s magnesium shell and the distinctive structural character of the glass dynamic driver. Three premium balanced armatures and four electrostatic supertweeters generate soaring detail, extension, and air with remarkable speed and sonic richness. The natural balance of these four technologies is further enhanced through the experienced and meticulous acoustic treatment to effortlessly juxtapose and blend their strengths. The Chimera’s hybrid driver topology is one of the most ambitious ever assembled in a universal in-ear monitor. Each technology contributes a distinct sonic character that, when unified, creates a presentation of remarkable depth and engagement.

10mm Bone Conduction Driver

Chimera’s 10mm bone conductor adds exceptional resonance and low-frequency presence. Embedded in a custom engineered housing pocket and paired with a magnesium shell to enhance conductance and deliver visceral physicality. The bone conduction driver operates in parallel with the dynamic driver, reinforcing low-frequency energy in a way that is felt as much as it is heard. This approach produces a physical engagement that sets the Chimera apart from conventional multi-driver IEM designs.

10mm True Glass Dynamic Driver

Driving low and low/mid frequencies, Chimera incorporates an all-new True Glass DD. Developed in partnership with Glass Acoustic Innovations, this new dynamic driver uses purpose-designed alkali glass processed for strength and acoustic performance. The glass diaphragm’s exceptionally low internal damping allows it to start and stop with a precision that conventional polymer materials cannot match. The collaboration with Glass Acoustic Innovations represents a genuine breakthrough in dynamic driver material science for in-ear applications.

Dual Diaphragm Balanced Armature

One of the latest advancements in balanced armature technology, the dual diaphragm BA incorporates two diaphragms connected to a single armature. Working in unison, the diaphragms deliver extra sonic richness and weight while still conveying the highly regarded detail and accuracy characteristic of balanced armatures. This dual-diaphragm configuration effectively doubles the radiating area without increasing the physical size of the armature assembly. The result is a midrange presentation with a body and warmth that previously required separate driver complements to achieve.

Twin High-Frequency Balanced Armatures

Two premium balanced armatures work in unison to produce crisp, accurate, lightning-fast high-frequency response, revealing nuance and micro-detail with extraordinary realism. The pairing of two dedicated armatures for the high frequencies ensures that even the most complex musical transients are reproduced without compression or smearing. Their combined output provides the dynamic headroom needed to handle sudden high-frequency peaks with effortless composure.

Quad Electrostatic Supertweeters

Extending Chimera’s high frequencies to add shimmer, air, and clarity, these four drivers move with remarkable precision to recreate cymbals, reverb, delay trails, and micro detail. The electrostatic supertweeters operate above the frequency range of any conventional armature driver, accessing the uppermost regions of human hearing with effortless ease. Their near-zero mass diaphragms react instantaneously to electrical signals, producing a sense of airiness and space that transforms the listening experience.

Shell-Embedded Bone Conduction Integration

Designed to maximise surface contact and sonic transmission of Chimera’s bone conductor. Chimera’s shell incorporates a customised internal ‘pocket’ that helps maximise surface contact and direct transmission of the bone conduction driver. This precision-engineered pocket eliminates air gaps that would otherwise attenuate the bone conduction driver’s physical energy transfer. The result is a more intimate and corporeal low-frequency sensation that purely acoustic drivers alone cannot replicate.

Targeted Rear Pressure Valve

Backing Chimera’s True Glass dynamic driver is a rear pressure valve maintaining even air pressure on each side of the diaphragm and enabling greater accuracy and even movement. By equalising the pressure differential across the diaphragm, the valve allows the glass driver to operate precisely within its intended design parameters. This results in a dynamic driver that sounds consistently composed and controlled, regardless of the frequency or amplitude demands placed upon it.

Acoustic Routing and Spatial Tuning

Chimera’s acoustic routing and spatial engineering required over fifty revisions to hone and perfect its distinctive sonic signature. Every nuance and detail meticulously shapes driver performance to highlight and enhance driver response. The routing geometry was refined through both objective measurement and extensive critical listening to ensure that each driver’s output arrives at the ear in optimal phase relationship. This painstaking iterative process is a testament to the engineering team’s commitment to achieving not just technical accuracy, but genuine musical expression.

Hybrid Vintage and Ceramic Capacitors

Supporting Chimera’s driver cohesion is a vintage ceramic-film capacitor selected specifically for its compatibility and synergy with Chimera’s internal architecture. This unique component helps to seamlessly integrate frequency-compartmented driver assemblies and to elevate and unify its sonic presentation. The choice of a vintage ceramic-film capacitor reflects the belief that passive component quality has a profound and audible influence on the character of the final sound. Its carefully measured contribution to the crossover circuit ensures that driver transitions are smooth and transparent, free from any sense of discontinuity.

Master Track Final Tuning Filter

Integrated into Chimera’s nozzle is a final stage tuning damper that adds a unified overall tuning adjustment at the last stage of Chimera’s output. This final-stage filter acts as a subtle corrective measure, smoothing any remaining frequency response anomalies before the signal reaches the ear canal. Its placement at the output nozzle ensures that all upstream driver and crossover interactions are accounted for in a single, precisely calibrated adjustment.

CNC Electro-Plated PVD Magnesium Shell

Chimera’s magnesium housing is chosen for its unique resonant quality, amplifying the physicality and impact of the bone conduction low driver. Designed with an internal ‘pocket’ to embed the BC driver and maximise surface contact. Magnesium’s exceptionally high stiffness-to-weight ratio makes it one of the most acoustically ideal shell materials available for high-performance IEM construction. The PVD electro-plating process not only enhances the shell’s visual appearance but also provides a durable, corrosion-resistant surface that withstands years of regular use.

Carbon Fibre and Brass Damascus Lid

Striking, organic, durable, and individual. Layers of brass are woven into carbon fibre and CNC machined to expose unique shapes and gradients. Each Chimera carries its own distinctive fingerprint with no two sets being the same. The Damascus-inspired patterning is not merely decorative — it is an authentic result of the layering and machining process, making each lid a genuinely unique artefact. This level of visual individuality elevates the Chimera beyond a listening instrument into the realm of wearable craftsmanship.

Custom Lid Ventilation System

Chimera incorporates a vented housing design that allows for natural balance to internal ear pressure. The venting geometry has been designed to relieve pressure without compromising the acoustic isolation or the integrity of the low-frequency response. This thoughtful engineering detail significantly reduces the ear fatigue associated with sealed IEM designs during long listening sessions.

Precision-Machined Brass Nozzle

High-quality brass is durable and resilient, allowing you to change ear tips worry free. Brass’s natural density also contributes to a smooth, consistent acoustic bore that minimises reflections at the nozzle exit point. The machined nozzle accepts a wide range of aftermarket ear tip styles, giving listeners complete freedom to tailor their fit and sound.

Standard 2-Pin Connector System

Chimera employs standard .78mm 2-pin connectors, using high-quality connector pins and receivers and a flush installation for added stability and durability. The universal .78mm 2-pin standard ensures compatibility with a vast selection of aftermarket cables, offering virtually unlimited upgrade potential. The recessed socket design prevents accidental disconnection and protects the connector pins from physical stress during everyday use.

ALO Audio Valence-6 Premium Cable

The Valence-6 cable incorporates six conductors, four high-purity copper conductors combined with two 50/50 pure copper/SPC conductors. Sleek, resilient aluminium hardware at cable terminations and y-split. Effortlessly adjust and lock your cable with an aluminium cinch. Chimera employs standard .78 2-pin connectors with recessed sockets for enhanced stability and security. The hybrid copper and SPC conductor geometry balances warmth and tonal density with the extended treble clarity characteristic of silver-plated conductors. The Valence-6 is a worthy sonic and aesthetic companion to the Chimera, completing the package with a cable that matches the IEM’s premium engineering ambitions.
